April 2010

We hope you had a relaxing Easter break and indulged in some delicious chocolate!
It has proven to be a busy start to the year as we welcome aboard our new clients and undertake many exciting new projects with our existing clients.
There are a number of updates and new features to Sage Accpac v5.6 which we will be covering in our upcoming training session to be held on April 21st 2010.  For more details please go to the Services and Support Training section below.

Citrix XenApp 6
XenApp 6, the latest version to XenApp, was released on March the 24th. This version has been built specifically for Windows Server 2008 R2. It offers seamless integration with Microsoft App-V and increases scalability by 15% or more users per server, reducing infrastructure costs.

XenApp 6 features a new centralised management console called AppCenter, which allows application management from one location. The audio and video user experience has been enhanced via high definition HDX technology – allowing the delivery of real-time audio and video collaboration applications and CD quality audio for a rich, high definition experience. Support for USB devices has been expanded to include webcams, digital camera, scanners, etc.

XenApp 6 provides users increased mobility, allowing them to choose the apps and services they need on-demand through the Dazzle app storefront. XenApp and Microsoft App-V virtual applications can be published, while centrally managing them from AppCenter and maintaining the highest level of security and control.

In addition to PCs, thin clients and laptops, XenApp 6 makes it easy to access Windows apps from Macs and popular smartphones, including iPhone, Windows Mobile and now Android. With Citrix Receiver, IT can deliver applications as an on-demand service with no need to manage, own or worry about the physical device or its location.

XenApp5 Feature Pack 3
Citrix has also released XenApp 5 Feature Pack 3 for Windows Server 2008 R1 and Windows Server 2003. This brings some of the new features in XenApp 6 such as HDX technology enhancements and application virtualization features to offer customers more value in their current environment as they build migration plans for newer platforms and technologies. These HDX enhancements include things such as expanded support for USB devices and CD quality audio support.

XenApp 5 Feature Pack 3 introduces isolation of Windows services for streamed applications increasing the ability to deliver broader application compatibility and a high performance user experience. Centralised reporting is included via enhanced service monitoring providing administrators with simplified reporting across multiple license servers.

For any further information or help with upgrading to XenApp 6 or XenApp 5 FP3, please contact Mark on 03 9569 2166.

Moving and copying cells by dragging selection borders
Quite possibly the most useful yet completely undiscoverable feature in Excel is the ability to move and copy cells by dragging selection borders.

For instance, to move row four between rows one and two, select row four and drag the selection border while holding down the Shift key in order to insert it in its new position. If you drag the border without holding down the Shift key, the selected cells will instead replace the cells you drop them on. Conversely, if you hold down Ctrl while dragging a selection border, the selected cells are copied to their new location.
